DHARAMSHALA: The Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama Monday said that he hopes to visit Taiwan in 2009; his first visit in seven years.
The Dalai Lama spoke to reporter. "I haven't visited Taiwan for several years, but I have never forgotten Taiwan."The Dalai Lama praised Taiwan's democracy.
The Dalai Lama is also scheduled to go to the Czech Republic and then on to Brussels to address the European Parliament before heading to Poland to meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Dalai Lama on Monday also met with the Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolank at the Prime Minister's official resident. The two leaders met for over one hour during which Dalai Lama briefed the Czech leader of the present situation in Tibet. Prime Minister Topolanek welcomed His Holiness to Czech and expressed his concern about the Tibetan issue.
