The Dalai Lama hints that he is open to picking a woman to succeed him.Successors to the Dalai Lama have traditionally been male.Speaking to a crowd in India, where he's lived in exile for the last fifty years, the Buddhist teacher said only the right person... male or female... should fill his shoes. The Tibetan spiritual leader fled his country in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese communist rule.Rumors have swirled recently that the Dalai Lama might break tradition and pick a successor before he dies to avoid Chinese interference.
