Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has urged the Chinese government to
extend road and railway networks up to border with Nepal.

During his meeting with a Chinese delegation led by a vice-minister of
the Communist Party of China, on Wednesday morning, at Baluwatar, PM
Koirala also

urged the Chinese government to help complete the construction of the
Rasuwagadi-Syafrubeshi highway at the earliest possible. He also asked
Chinese

government to extend the Tibetan railway up to northern border of Nepal.

China and Nepal had agreed to construct the Rasuwagadi-Syafrubeshi
highway in 2001, and had scheduled to complete it within three years
from the date of

signing the agreement. However, the construction of the road has not
started yet.

On the occasion, PM Koirala reiterated the stand of the government
towards one-China policy. He assured that the government will hold the
election by mid

-April.

In response, the Chinese leader, who is also the vice president of the
China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture
(CAPDTC), said

China hopes for early polls and return of normalcy in Nepal. He further
said China is ready to extend possible support for success of the peace
process and

holding of the constituent assembly elections here.

A 12-member Chinese delegation is in Kathmandu to attend the two-day
