Dharamshala:The Department of Education (DoE) conducted a review of education standards in Tibetan schools in eastern India from 3 to 9 September, as a part of its annual education assessment program.

DoE's education officer, Mr Tsering Phuntsok visited two schools under the supervision of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Administration (STSA) -- Thunmi Sambhota Tibetan school, Gangtok and Pokhriabong school in Darjeeling.

The education officer also accompanied Mr A P Rana, secretary of Central Tibetan Schools' Administration (CTSA) visited Central School for Tibetans (CST), Rawangla and Darjeeling from 5 to 7 September.

The program involves assessing teaching methodology, student's education standard and school curriculums. Later, teachers and staff members are also furnished with guidelines for the schools' overall development.

The assessing officers also spoke to students on importance of developing education, morality and health.

The Tibetan welfare officers of Gangtok and Rawangla, schools' principal and rector took part in the program, and accorded best support during the entire course of program.

CTSA, established by Indian government at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1961 is an autonomous body regulated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, government of India. It manages and assists schools in India for the education of Tibetan children.
