Tibetan culture featured in Tuscany exhibition

Tibet was featured in an exhibition of Buddhist
cultures from ten countries at the Oriental
Cultural exhibition at Carrara city in Tuscany
province of Italy from Oct 29 to 31. The other
countries were reported to include India, China,
Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea,
and Vietnam. The Tibetan exhibit, organized by Mr
Tamding Choephel of Milan based Tibet Culture
House, was reported to be the largest.

The Dalai Lama’s Geneva-based representative Mr
Tseten Samdup Chhoekyapa addressed the opening
ceremony. He spoke about the destruction of
Buddhist culture in Tibet under Chinese
occupation rule. He was greeted on the occasion
by the Mayor of Carrara, Mr Angelo Zubbani,
reported the exile Tibetan government-run Oct 31.

The mayor presented to Mr Choekyapa a marble
plate marking the Dalai Lama’s visit to the
place. Carrara is famous for the white Italian marble.
