Sixth International Conference of Tibet Support Groups (Updated)

Surajkund, Haryana -- The Sixth International
Conference of Tibet Support Group, convened by
the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India, is being
held at Surajkund in the north Indian state of
Haryana from 5-7 November 2010. The Core Group
for Tibetan cause is the apex coordinating body of the Tibet supports in India.

  During the inaugural ceremony will take place
on the morning of 5 November.  His Holiness the
Dalai Lama will be the Guest of Honour and the
former Deputy Prime Minister of India, Mr. Lal
Krishna Advani, will be the Chief Guest. The
Kalon Tripa, Prof Samdhong Rinpoche, will deliver the key note address.

Other international guests who would be present
at the inaugural ceremony include Senator Miriam
Defensor Santiago, Senator of Phillippines; Mr
Rafael Gimalov, Member of Parliament Duma,
Russia; and Major (Retd.) Vijay Singh Mankotia,
former Minister of Himachal Pradesh, India.

Over 250 participants from 57 countries are
participating in the three-day conference.

"This conference will discuss the current
situation in Tibet and outline ways for the Tibet
support groups throughout the world to strengthen
their work in the light of new developments in
China and Tibet," said Dr. N.K. Trika, National
Convener of the Core Group for Tibetan Cause, India.

The previous conferences of Tibet Support Groups
have been held in Dharamsala in 1990, in Bonn in
1996, Berlin in 2000, Prague in 2003, and
Brussels in 2007. A special TSG conference was also held in India in 2008.

The opening and closing sessions of the
conference would be webcast live on The timings of the webcast
are opening session on 10:00 am -- 12:00 noon
(Indian State Time) on 5 November 2010 and
closing session on 10:00 am -- 12:00 noon (IST).
