6-day Tibetan national meet from today

MYSORE (TNN) -- The first Tibetan national
general meeting will be held at Bylakuppe from
Thursday. Over 300 delgates from across the globe
will attend the six-day event.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Tibetan
Dickey Larose Community Hall and will focus on
various issues like political affairs, promotions
of democracy, sustenance of the settlement,
advocacy for Tibetan issue, education, health,
economy, religion and culture. The event will
conclude on August 31 at Sera Lachi Monastery,
Lugsum, Tibetan Settlement Bylakuppe and Dalai Lama will grace the session.

A traditional ceremonial long-life prayer for
Dalai Lama will be offered by Tibetans at Sera
Mey Monastery on September 1 and the
commemoration ceremony of the 50th anniversary of
the founding of Tibetan Democracy will be held on
September 2. Over 30 parliament members from 14
different countries, legislatures of Karnataka
and local dignitaries will attend the event.
