After 22 years,Tibet’s Panchen Lama still missing

Asia News Network, May 18, 2017 - It has been 22 years since 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, at the age of six disappeared on 17 May 1995. To mark the day, Tibetans on Wednesday staged a protest march at Dharamshala in Kangra district.

The Department of Information and International Relations of Tibetan government in exile has also released an exclusive 4-minute video titled ‘Ten Facts about the m-issing Panchen Lama’ to mark the event’s 22nd anniversary.

International Relations secretary of Tibetan government-in-exile, Sonam Norbu Dagpo, said the Chinese government’s over-generalisation and blanket statements makes the case of missing Panchen Lama shrouded in mystery and raises suspicion. “Global efforts to secure the Lama’s whereabouts and release have been relentless.
