CHICAGO, IL - On April 9, the official Beijing Olympic Torch will make
its one and only stop in the United States in San Francisco. In response
to this, large numbers of Tibetans and their supporters in the Midwest
will stage a demonstration in solidarity with other protesters gathering
in San Francisco.

The demonstration will begin at 11:30am at Water Tower park and will
proceed through the streets of Chicago to China's Consulate (100 West Erie).

A candle light vigil will take place as well with the entire
demonstration ending at 7pm. The vigil is designed to show support for
the Tibetans in Tibet and also to offer prayers to those Tibetans who
have lost their lives in fighting for Tibet's freedom.

On April 10, Tibetans will begin a three-day hunger strike in front of
China's Consulate and will continue their strike until some resolution
to the current crackdown in Tibet is resolved. The strike will take
place between 11:30am to 7pm each day.
