The Dalai Lama will meet with Germany's development minister during
his four-day visit to the country, a government spokesman said,
following criticism that he was being snubbed by members of the
administration.
Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, whose almost 10 years in office makes her
the longest-serving minister, will meet with the Tibetan spiritual
leader on May 19, spokesman Thomas Steg said at a briefing in Berlin.
The Dalai Lama's government-in-exile said last week it was
"disappointed" that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier
wouldn't meet with the leader. Mr. Steg said the government hadn't
revealed the meeting previously because officials had been waiting
for details to be finalized.
Still, he wasn't able to give a time or place.
