ITIM and March for Tibet

June 29, 2008

ITIM
June 26, 2008

Hello and Tashi Delek! We have been having some problems with our
listserv for the International Tibet Independence Movement (ITIM).
Therefore, we have closed down the free-tibet@tibet.org list. I am so
sorry for causing you any problems. Until we find a much better
listserv system, we will send emails from rangzen@aol.com.

ITIM has been very, very busy this year and will continue to be
through the upcoming Olympics in August. We have helped coordinate
and/or sponsor numerous protests in Chicago, Indianapolis, Colorado,
California, and New York City; recently hosting the Tibetan Freedom
Torch in Indiana.

We will once again coordinate a "March for Tibet's Independence" with
the assistance of the Wisconsin Tibetan Association and the Tibetan
Alliance of Chicago. This walk begins in Madison on July 25 and ends
the day the Olympics start, August 8. We end at China's Consulate in
Chicago. We are hoping to have large numbers of people at the
beginning and end of the walk. Please let others know about this
event as well. If you cannot walk with us or attend the rallies,
there are many other ways you can help out.

1. Any help raising funds for this walk would be greatly appreciated.
Not surprisingly, we have spent a good deal of money on our
activities this year, and in fact, we are almost out of funds! For
this walk, we need help paying for the rental of a 15-person van,
food, printing, copying, fuel, and other expenses connected to the
walk. We must raise $10,000 (U.S. dollars) to cover our budget, and
thus far, we have raised $3,000. Here are some ways you can
contribute financially.

a. Sponsor a walker. The core group of walkers will be about 20
people mostly Tibetans. Any Tibetans that could be sponsored would be
appreciated. We estimate that it will cost about $350 to sponsor a
walker. This includes, for instance, the cost of renting a van, fuel,
food, and other living expenses.
b. Sponsor meals for the walkers each day ($10 per walker or $200 for
all the walkers each day).
c. Sponsor fuel for one day ($50)
d. Contribute $5 for each day of the walk ($75 total).
e. Contribute $1 (U.S. currency) for each mile of the walk or $185
(185 miles) to cover all the miles!

Checks can be made out to ITIM and sent to ITIM, PO Box 592, Fishers,
Indiana, 46038, USA. ITIM is a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization
and donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by U.S. law.

You can also donate on our website via secure PayPal!

2. Have your organization financially contribute to the Walk as a "Donor."
3. Have your organization support the Walk as a "Supporter."Any way
your organization can offer support would be acceptable.
4. Provide a link to our website (www.rangzen.org). Let me know if
you want to do this and I will share an image with you that you can
use on your site.

Further details about the upcoming walk are at www.rangzen.org.

Thanks again for your continued support for the just cause of Tibet.

peace, Larry Gerstein
