Berhampur ( Orissa): The Tibetan refugees have demonstrated a public
rally demanding 'meaningful autonomy' for their native land Tibet and
early resumption of fruitful dialogue between Dalai Lama and the
people's republic of China here in Berhampur today.

Around 150 Tibetans including women from five refugee camps from
Chandragiri in the Gajapati district have took out a public rally
seeking the attention of people with a view to create awareness on the
burning issue relating to the autonomy of Tibet at international level.

They were seen displaying placards in which they had expressed their
long suppressed emotions like 'we demand human rights in Tibet', 'Tibet
belongings to Tibet', 'wake up UNO wake up', 'stop cultural genocide in
Tibet' and 'long live Indo-Tibet friendship.

Jumpel Dhondup (Chairman) and Nima Tashi (vice-chairman) of the Tibetan
Solidarity Committee, have submitted a memorandum regarding their demands.

In the memorandum, they have placed five most important demands that
includes ensuring China puts an immediate stop to the brutal killings
and persecution of Tibetans, China grants unconditional release of all
those Tibetans who stand accused, help in instituting an independent and
impartial inquiry into the genocide in Tibet, allowing free movement of
press to cover the whole of Tibet and encourage an early resumption of
'fruitful dialogue' between the Dalai Lama and the People's Republic of
China.
