Riga -- The society "Latvia for Tibet" invites people to participate
in the global campaign "Candle For Tibet", which will take place one
day before the Olympic Games opening ceremony, on August 7, as
representatives of the society "Latvia for Tibet" informed LETA.

Organizers of the campaign "Candle for Tibet" suggest lighting a
candle as a sign of support for Tibet, and to put it on the work desk
or anywhere, where others could see it and, hopefully, also follow the example.

A large number of people all over the world will light candles, and
it is expected that billions of people will see this peaceful protest
campaign on television on the day of opening of the Beijing Olympics.

The following day after the campaign, all the world's country leaders
will be sent letters, informing about the number of people, who wish
for Tibet to become independent and demand for each country leader to
take action to achieve this goal.

This light campaign is a new global-scale undertaking with the aim of
expressing public opinion regarding the Tibet issue. It will unite
millions of people all around the world.

So far, around 500,000 from more than 100 countries have expressed
their support for the campaign.
