Former president and leader of Solidarnos'c' Lech Walesa has called
"the height of insolence" China's decision to postpone a December
summit with the EU after European politicians planned to meet the
Dalai Lama at events celebrating the 25th anniversary of Lech
Wa?e;sa's Nobel Peace Prize in Gdan'sk.

In spite of this, French President Sarkozy is still intending to meet
with the Tibetan spiritual leader in Poland.

The focus of the celebrations in Gdansk will be an international
conference on "Solidarity for the future" scheduled for December 6th.

Among accompanying events is a project titled "Solidarity Express" --
around 200 young people from 44 countries travelling on a special
train from Kraków to Warsaw and Gdan'sk.

Lech Walesa received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983. The medal, which
will be presented at a special exhibition in Gdan'sk next week, was
collected in Oslo by his wife Danuta, because the Solidarnos'c'
leader was afraid he would not be allowed back into Poland.
