His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Open Inter-faith Conference in Gujarat, Kalon Tripa to Join

Dharamshala: Kalon Tripa Prof Samdong Rinpoche will deliver an address on Buddhism to an inter-faith conference titled “ World Religion – Dialogue and Symphony” to be held at Kailash Gurukul in Bhavnagar district in Gujarat, India, from 6 -11 January 2009. The conference will be inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
 
The six-day world religious conference is an initiative of Shri Ram kathakar Morari Bapu to seek ways to find harmony among world religions.
 
Representatives and scholars from different religious faiths will participate in the conference. Diwan Saiyad Zainul Abedin Ali Sahib from Ajmer Sharif will speak on Islam, Dr. Prabalkant Dutt on non-Catholic Christianity, Kanchi Shaknkaracharya Swami Jayendra Saraswati on Hinduism and Dastur Dr. Peshtan Hormazadiar Mirza(Mumbai/Udvada) on Zoroastrian.
 
According to the details announced in Mumbai press conference, His Holiness Dalai lama and Morari Bapu will address the conference on inauguration day.
 
After attending the inaugural ceremony of the religious conference, His Holiness will leave for Sarnath, where he will give a seven-day teachings on Kamalashila's “The Middling Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa)” and Shantideva's “A Guide To the Bodhisattva's Way of Life (chodjug)”.
 
The teachings will be held near the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies from 8 – 14 January.
 
Meanwhile, Kalon Tripa will stay in Gujarat till 10 January.
 
Kalon Tripa will give the presidential address to the “5th National Conference on Hypnotherapy: A Psycho-philosophical Approach on Hypnosis as Therapy of the Millenium” in Baroda. The conference will be organised by Indian Society of Clinical Hypnosis and Indian Society of Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis, in collaboration with The M.S. University of Baroda from 9 – 11 January.
 
He will also take part in the seminar on psycho-philosophical exploration on hypnosis and discussions on rebirth and consciousness.
 
Kalon Tripa will also meet with the Tibetan community which includes college students and shopkeepers in Baroda. He will leave Baroda for New Delhi.
 
In New Delhi, Kalon Tripa will attend the preparatory meeting for the centenary celebration of Hind Swaraj or India Home Rule, written by Mahatma Gandhi in 1908.
 
On 12 January, Kalon Tripa will participate in the “Cross Cultural Conversation” at the India Habitat Center, during which he will speak on “Compassion: The Buddhist Approach”.
 
Kalon Tripa will return to Dharamshala on 13 January.
