Tibet conference held in Buryatia Under aegis of Russian Academy of Sciences

About 40 participants, including the Dalai Lama’s
Representative at Moscow, observers and others
took part in a round-table conference on 'TIBET:
PAST AND PRESENT' held at Ulan Ude, capital of
Buryatia Republic of Russian Federation on Apr 3.
It was organized by the Institute for Mongolian,
Buddhist and Tibetan Studies (IMBTS), a branch of
Russian Academy of Sciences, reported the exile
Tibetan government’s Tibet.net Apr 13.

Twelve scholars presented papers on topics that
included Tibet's history, situation in Tibet,
Tibetans in-exile, the Dalai Lama's peace
initiative and Universal Responsibility and the
influence of Tibetan Buddhism in Buryatia and Himalayan region.

Dr. Nawang Rabgyal, the Dalai Lama’s
representative to Russia & CIS, spoke on the
current situation in Tibet, the Middle-Way
policy, and views and visions of the Dalai Lama for future Tibet and the world.

Prof. B.V. Bazarob, Director of IMBTS, gave the opening keynote speech.
