The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is to
make a 100,000-yuan short film and broadcast it
free to help China promote tourism to Tibet’s
capital Lhasa, reported China’s official Xinhua
news agency May 25, citing Tibet Business
Newspaper.  It said BBC made the promise at the
West China Counties International Investment and
Cooperation Forum held in Hong Kong in late Apr’09.

"This will be the first time for Lhasa to
publicize its tourism worldwide. With this
30-second short film, we hope to enhance Lhasa's
international image, help the world know the city
better and attract more people," Gao Fu, deputy
director of the Lhasa's Tourism Bureau, was quoted as saying.

The report also said Hong Kong-based China Travel
Service had offered a framework agreement to the
Lhasa's Tourism Bureau, with plans to build new
hotels and developing tourist resources in Lhasa.
