Chinese army chief meets visiting Nepalese general on Taiwan, Tibet issues

[By Reporter Tao Shelan: "PLA Chief of General Staff Appreciates Nepal's
Support on Taiwan, Tibet Issues"]

Beijing, 9 Jan (ZXS) -General Chen Bingde, member of the CCP Central
Military Commission and PLA Chief of General Staff, on 9 January
expressed appreciation and gratitude to Nepal for its firm support of
China on Taiwan and Tibet issues, when meeting visiting Nepalese Chief
of Army Staff General Katawal.

Chen Bingde said China shares borders with Nepal. For a long time, the
two countries have treated each other equally, cooperated based on
mutual benefits, respected each other, co-existed friendlily, and
carried out effective exchanges and cooperation in many fields.
Maintaining a friendly relationship between China and Nepal serves the
fundamental interests of the two peoples. The Chinese army attaches
great importance to developing ties with Nepalese army, and is willing
to continue to promote exchanges between the two armed forces, to strive
to push the ties between the two armies to a new level, to promote the
development of a comprehensive partnership of cooperation between the
two countries, and to uphold regional peace and stability together.

Katawal said the people and army of Nepal see Chinese people and army as
real friends, and they appreciate the consistent, valuable support
granted by China. The Nepalese army is willing to strengthen friendly
ties with the PLA. Nepal will forever stick to the one-China policy,
support China's great undertaking of unification and all its actions to
safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Before the meeting, Chen Bingde held a welcoming ceremony for Katawal
and accompanied him to review the guard of honour of the three services.

Major General Chen Xiaogong, assistant Chief of General Staff, and Major
General Li Shaojun, commander of PLA Beijing Garrison, participated in
the above activities.
