STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art will hold its annual "Tibetan Twilight" fund-raiser on Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Museum, 338 Lighthouse Ave., Lighthouse Hill. The reception includes light fare, wine, champagne and music. Tickets are $80 per person. For reservations, call 718-987-3500.

The event will celebrate the Museum's recent listing on the New York State Register of Historic Places, which is the official list of properties recognized as significant in the history, architecture and culture of New York.

Established in 1945, the Museum was founded by pioneering American woman Jacques Marchais (1887-1948), an important collector and respected expert on Tibetan art, who contributed greatly to the growing interest in Asian art, philosophy, and spirituality in the United States. The museum represents Marchais' vision to provide a peaceful retreat where the public could study the art and culture of Tibet. It is open to the public every Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
