Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama is deeply concerned over the Tibetans affected by the earthquake in Kyigudo region in Tibet and expressing his hopes and wishes to visit the region, Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche said during a book launch at a monastery in Dharamsala today.

Kalon Tripa said His Holiness had similar feeling of concern during the devastating earthquake struck China's Sichuan Province in May 2008 which killed around 68,000 people. But the visit was materialised due to the reality of prevailing situation.

There are media reports about the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the quake-affected areas in Kyigudo. The Tibetans who are undergoing suffering due to natural calamity in Tibet pray and yearn to get His Holiness the Dalai Lama's blessings. Hearing such sentiments we are greatly moved as if our hearts were pricked by thorn, Kalon Tripa said.

Kalon Tripa further said, if the external circumstances become favourable, there is no difficulty on the part of His Holiness' aspirations and could make his visit to the affected areas at the soonest possible.

Even if the prospect of the visit appears like dream, we should strive to make efforts and pray to make the prayers and wishes of the affected Tibetans to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama come true, he added.

According to Reuters news agency the official death toll rose to 760, but some local Tibetans the figure is untrue and many more had died.
