27 May 2011
On April 13, 2011, we issued an appeal to the Chinese government, Sichuan State government, and Ngaba County officials to cease the crackdown on Ngaba Kirti monastery to no avail. On April 22, 2011, 300 monks were arrested and many went “missing.”
Chinese constitution guarantees religious freedom for all, but for the past two months, the historic Kirtu monastery has been turned into a prison and now faces serious threat of being shut down by the Chinese government.
The Chinese government has a concrete and brutal plan to evict all the monks from the monastery and severely threatening the lives of the Buddhist monks.
We appeal to world political leaders, religious heads, and devout followers to strongly urge Chinese leaders to stop the crackdown in the Kirti monastery.
11th Kirti Rinpoche
