Fairleigh Dickinson, Madison hosts Tibetan monks, for week of demonstrations and lectures

MADISON -- Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse
Monastery present Sacred Earth Healing Arts of
Tibet on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson
University, 285 Madison Ave., Madison, during the week that ends on Sept. 24.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, Sept. 20 to
Sept. 24, the monks will create a sand mandala in the Library Orangerie.
At noon on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the Orangerie,
at the FDU Library, the monks will give a lecture
and discussion on the Four Noble Truths.
At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, view The Inside
Story: Images of Tibetan Monastic Life, in Lenfell Hall, Hennessy Hall.
At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, enjoy the
presentation, Journey to the Roof of the World:
Sacred Dance and Chants of Tibet, in Lenfell Hall, Hennessy Hall.
At noon on Friday, Sept. 24, there will be a
butter-sculpting workshop in Wroxton Room at the Student Center.
At 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, the monks end
their visit with a Dissolution Ceremony of the
Sand Mandala in the Library Orangerie.
These events are free to the public, and
presented by the Fairleigh Dickinson University
Diversity Council and Department of Campus Life.
