Kalon Tripa addresses students and faculty
members at Gyan Kailash School in Saharanpur
Dharamshala -- Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche
yesterday visited Dharma Society of India in
Saharanpur where he unveiled a statue of Lord Buddha during a ceremony.
Senior Indian government officials including a
minister of state and other officials attended the function.
In his address to a gathering of about 1,500
people, Kalon Tripa stressed the importance of
understanding the teachings of Buddha through
study, contemplation and practice.
Kalon Tripa later visited Gyan Kailash School and
spoke to students on education and introduction to Buddhism.

He left Saharanpur for Dickyiling Tibetan Settlement in Uttaranchal.
Speaking to Tibetan settlers, Kalon Tripa said
Tibetan monasteries and sweater sellers have been
self-reliant in terms of their livelihood. He
emphasised that among the general public those
who are dependent on stipends from the
administration must stand on their own feet.
Kalon Tripa will visit Tibetan community in Mussoorie.
