Taipei, Dec. 6, 2010 (CNA) Exiled Tibetans in Taiwan and abroad will launch a march from northern to southern Taiwan on Friday to raise the public's awareness of China's suppression of the region.
The 13-day event will be part of the "Walk for Tibet" global campaign aimed at "sharing our message of world peace, human rights, and the Tibetan struggle for independence, " according to the organizers.
Jigme Norbu, nephew of the Dalai Lama and son of the late Taktser Rinpoche, who supported Tibet independence, will join the activity, said Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Taiwan (RTYC-Taiwan) Chairman Tashi Tsering in a statement Monday.
Under the campaign, Norbu has organized 19 activities in the United States and elsewhere in which he walked or cycled a total of 6,500 miles (10,461 kilometers).
The walk in Taiwan will cover over 250 miles and 10 counties. (By Alex Jiang) ENDITEM/ls
