Thousands of Tibetans staged protest in Kyegudo in Yushu Prefecture in Qinghai province Wednesday morning.
About 1,400 Tibetan protesters carried banners and chanted slogans calling for return of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, freedom for Tibet, respect for Tibetan lives and Tibetan langauge and release of political prisoners including Panchen Lama.
Sources told VOA Tibetan the group of protesters were to march from Sekhar Monastery to Zatoe town before they were blocked at a bridge by Chinese security forces and dispersed to their respective places.
There is no case of arrest or conflict. An immediate meeting was held in the afternoon' trucks of police were deployed in the protest area.
