Polish athletes participating in the upcoming Beijing Olympics will
be able to manifest their solidarity with Tibet but only outside the
Olympic venues and the Olympic Village - informed the Polish Olympic Committee.

While in Beijing its chairman Piotr Nurowski reiterated that the
athletes who will express their views during the competitions will
face punishment by the Committee while those who protest outside the
sports arenas will not face consequences.

The statement is a response to the appeal by the head of the European
Parliament, Hans Gert Poettering, who said that participants of the
Summer Olympic Games in Beijing should be able to express their
protests against violations of human rights in Tibet.
