Barcelona Runs for Tibet

Barcelona, Spain, March 4 -- The year 2009 Barcelona Marathon was run on March 1. Each year, the marathon is dedicated to various humanitarian cause and this year it was two, Tibet and disabled children of the world.
Around ten thousand people from around the world ran for this international event that is held every year in the Catalonian city of Barcelona. The run began from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics square to the citys main square.
The Tibet house foundation (Casa del Tibet) and Tibetan community of Barcelona distributed more than six thousand "Head Bands" with SAVE TIBET printed on them. A huge Tibetan national flag hung on the background of a special booth that was set up to provide information about Tibet and Tibet related issues.
The participants were chanting slogans like "Free Tibet," "Peace in Tibet" and "Peace in the World" as they ran the 40 kilometre marathon which was covered live by national and local media.
The organizer thanked the Tibet House Foundation and the Tibetan community of Barcelona for their collaboration.
