Minister for Foreign Affairs, Upendra Yadav,
reached Lasha of China on Saturday afternoon, leading a Nepali delegation.

Minister Yadav was welcomed at Gonggar Airport by
Ren Wan Hai, Deputy Secretary-General of the
People’s Government of Tibet Autonomous Region of
the People’s Republic of China and Naindra Prasad
Upadhyaya, Consul General of Nepal to Lhasa, said
a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Yadav has been accompanied by Dr Tilak
Rawal, Member of the Constituent Assembly and
officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to the banquette, Minister Yadav held a
meeting with Chhamba Puncog, Chairman of the
People’s Government of TAR, the People’s Republic
of China. During the meeting, Foreign Minister
Yadav and Puncog highlighted the Sino-Nepal
relations in various aspects. The two dignitaries
discussed the matters of mutual concern,
including trade, tourism, transport and development.

Minister Yadav said since it was the first visit
at the Foreign Minister level after the
establishment of federal democratic system in
Nepal, the visit would further consolidate
bilateral relations between the two countries. He
also reiterated Nepal’s firm commitment of ‘One
China Policy’ and policy of not allowing any
anti-Chinese activities in Nepali soil.

While appreciating China for her continued
support for Nepal’s development endeavours, he
expressed that at time when Nepalese people are
in the process of drafting new constitution and
post-conflict rebuilding and reconstruction, the
support from the Chinese government and Chinese people would be more crucial.

On the occasion, Chairman Puncog appreciated
Nepal’s policy towards China and ensured for
further cooperation and assistance for the
Government of TAR, according to a press release
issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
