Nepal beefs up security in Tibetan border

Kathmandu, Jul 16 (PTI) Nepal government has beefed up security in its
northern border with Tibet, in order to check Free Tibet activities and
to control illegal trade.
The coalition government is working out scheme to deploy Armed Police
Force (APF) personnel at Tatopani of Sindhupalchowk district near
Kathmandu and other North-west borders with Tibet as per the request
from Chinese government, the Nagarika Daily quoted Home Minister
officials as saying.
China have shown concern over the continued demonstrations by Tibetan
exiles in Kathmandu and the possibility of anti-China activities in
Nepal-Tibet borders outside Kathmandu, the daily reported.
Every year around 2,000 Tibetans come to Nepal through illegal channels
on their way to India to meet their spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.
The police recently arrested two dozen Tibetans protestors from Kathmandu.
