IF
by Lhasang Tsering
If to my homeland I could return
Could end my lonely exile.
If none would deprive me of freedom
The Chinese no longer my enemy.
If only to a free Tibet I could return!
If to my homeland I could return
Could end this alien oppression.
If I could live in peace and freedom
The Chinese no longer slaying my people.
If only to a free Tibet I could return!
If to my homeland I could return
Could end this mortal struggle.
If none would burn my temples.
The Chinese not against my Dharma.
If only to a free Tibet I could return!
If to my homeland I could return
Could end the need to die for freedom.
If the peace-loving Tibetan people
Could live in peace and freedom.
If only to a free Tibet I could return!
