KATHMANDU: Nine Tibetans, including three women, have been detained for
illegally crossing the border and sneaking off to the Nepali territory
in Sindhupalchowk on Saturday night, the police said.

The Tibetans were arrested in Barhabise at 8:30 in the evening after
they failed to produce the necessary travel documents.

Their motive behind illegally crossing the border is immediately unknown.

According to the police, they would be handed over to the Department of
Immigration (DoI). Thereafter, hey would be either deported to Tibet or
imprisoned in the country or would be handed over to the United Nations
High Commission for Refugees.

Nepal has tightened the security along its northern border with Chinese

in an attempt to prevent the influx of Tibetans to Nepal as it has
upholding 'One China Policy' in its international affairs.
