Dharamsala, June 11 -- The Speaker of the Tibetan
Parliament-in-Exile Mr Penpa Tsering on Tuesday
concluded a three-day visit to Norway that
included meetings with MPs, Officials of Foreign
Ministry and the country’s small Tibetan community.

During the visit, the speaker met with the
members of the Norwegian Parliamentary Group on
Tibet and representatives of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.

During the meetings, Mr Penpa Tsering discussed
ways to "intensify engagement by the Norwegian
authorities and institutions to encourage the
Chinese leadership to enter into fruitful
negotiations with the Envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama”.

In his meeting on Tuesday morning with the
foreign ministry representatives, Mr Tsering
disscussed mainly on "Tibet related issues,
including the dialogue process between the Dalai
Lama’s envoys and the PRC leadership."

The discussion also included "the presently
ongoing human rights dialogue between Norwegian
and Chinese institutions, which is held at high
political level with State Secretaries participating on both sides."

According to Chungdak Koren, Director of
Norwegian Tibet Committee, "Tibet is among the
issues to be discussed in this round of dialogue,
which is right now taking place in Beijing."

The speaker, along with representatives from the
Norwegian Tibet Committee, also gave a public
talk at the Norwegian Human Rights House on Monday evening.

During the visit, Mr Penpa also spent time time
with the Tibetan community in Norway giving talks
on the work of the Central Tibetan Administration and its democratic setup.

After the successful visit in Oslo Mr. Penpa
Tsering on Tuesday evening left for Denmark.

The speaker’s visit to Norway were jointly
organized by the Norwegian Tibet Committee and
the Voice of Tibet foundation’s administrative office in Oslo.
