China has again rejected the Dalai Lama call for
genuine autonomy for undivided Tibet and
questioned his right to speak for the "welfare of
6 million Tibetans". "Six million Tibetans" imply
a concept of a "Greater Tibet" while the 14th
Dalai Lama had never managed any Tibetan region
outside "Tibet," said China’s latest tirade
against the Dalai Lama carried by People’s Daily
online, China’s party mouthpiece, Jun 13.

The attack came just after the exile Tibetan
government’s task force on dialogue with China
met in Dharamsala on Jun 8-9. It rejected,
offhandedly, the "Note relating to the Memorandum
on Genuine Autonomy for All Tibetans" submitted
by the "Dalai Clique" to the Chinese government in early 2010.

The commentary rejected the Dalai Lama’s
contention that benefits from the development of
Tibet are being taken away by the Han nationality
as a "scheming and tricks" by him. It claimed
that before the Chinese came, more than 90
percent of Tibetans did not even have their own
homes. It did not explain how such homeless
Tibetans survived in Tibet’s subzero winter temperature.

The Dalai Lama has cited the massive influx of
Chinese immigrants in Tibet encouraged by China’s
investment of billions of yuan every year on the
development and modernization there a form of cultural genocide.

The commentary accused the DaIai Lama of
entertaining "a fond dream to restore the feudal
serfdom under theocracy." On the other hand, the
Dalai Lama has said that with an elected
administration now in place, he is already in
semi-retirement. He has further said he will
retire completely from politics once the Tibet
issue is resolved since there will be an elected government to run the country.
