  The Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) government
plans to spend more than 23 million yuan to
protect sites associated with the Chinese
invasion of Tibet as part of the region’s
cultural heritage, according to China’s official
China Daily online Jul 21. It said the first
batch of construction for protection projects had
already started while the region applied for the fund from Beijing.

The report said the protection projects include
the hall of the Preparatory Committee for the
Founding of the Tibet autonomous region, the
Langzi Ha Museum and the old meeting room of the
Party committee of Gyangze County.

The report said more funds would be sought from
Beijing during the central government's 12th
Five-Year Plan (2011-15) to completely repair the
representative office of the People's Central
Government in Tibet built in 1965, the gates of
the former Tibet Military Area Command, the house
of the 13th Dalai Lama at birth in Nangxian
county and other so-called red sites.
