Annual Earth Day Walk, Saturday, April 25, Noon

Please join Victoria’s Canada Tibet Committee next Saturday, April 25, at Noon for the annual Earth Day Walk.

April 25 is the birthday of Tibet’s Panchen Lama, abducted by Chinese authorities at the age of 6. It was to mark the birthday of ”the world’s youngest political prisoner” that Victoria’s CTC began participating in this walk. Now we also draw attention to the environmental crises emerging in Tibet as a result of drastic policies imposed by China.

We will have flags and placards, but more are welcome. Please come and swell our ranks.

The walk is happening “in reverse” this year, meeting at the Legislature at 12:00 noon (see below). At Centennial Square we will have a table with a few items for sale and environmental information you can take away with you. Hope to see you there!

Earth Walk & Environmental Fair

Come Together for Peace, Earth and Justice

The 2009 Earth Walk parade starts from the Legislature Lawns and walks up Government Street to Centennial Square, and the Environmental Fair at the Square will have music, a few speakers, a children’s area, and local advocacy groups will be there to discuss with you the work they do.

We’re hoping to see 5000 people at Earth Walk this year. Mark your calendars and come down on April 25th with your friends, your families, your co-workers to be a part of it!
