CTC welcomes ‘Thank You Canada’ events in Ottawa

Ottawa, June 11, 2018 – To mark the “year of gratitude” declared by the Central Tibetan Administration, the Canada Tibet Committee will participate in a week-long series of events designed to thank Canadians for their steadfast support of the Tibetan people. 

“Canada has been a special friend of Tibet over the past 6 decades” said Sherap Therchin, Executive Director of the Canada Tibet Committee. “Now we hope to celebrate that friendship and build new relationships between the Canadian and Tibetan people.”

THANK YOU CANADA EVENTS:

June 11-14, 2018:  Canada Tibet Lobby Days 2018 welcomes six members of the Tibetan- Parliament-in-Exile who will be visiting Ottawa and meeting with Canadian MPs and Senators to urge Canadian support for renewal of the Sino-Tibetan dialogue.  

Tuesday, June 12, 2018: Tibet’s political leader, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will address the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.  Web link  http://parlvu.parl.gc.ca

Tuesday, June 12, 2018:  “Thank you Canada” special celebration at 5:30 pm. The event is co-organized by the Parliamentary Friends of Tibet, the Office of Tibet for North America, the Canada Tibet Committee and the Canadian Tibetan Association of Ontario.  Participation is by invitation only.  Media may contact sherap@tibet.ca

Tuesday, June 12, 2018: A special video message from His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Canadians will be launched.  His Holiness was awarded honourary Canadian citizenship in 2007.

Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 12:30:Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will give a public talk entitled “Does Tibet still matter?” at the 25One Community Centre, 251 Bank Street, Ottawa. All are welcome.
