Dharamsala, March 9 -- The exile Tibetan government based here will host ‘thank you India," a series of events in the Indian capital from March 28 to March 30 to express its gratitude to the government and people of India, according to a website dedicated to the event.

March 2009 marks fifty years since the Tibetan leader Dalai Lama arrived in India after Chinese forces invaded Tibet. Thousands of Tibetans followed their leader to India thus leading to a mass exodus of Tibetans for the first time in 2000 years of Tibetan history.

The festival will bring some of the most important Tibetan institutions together to showcase the Tibetan refugees’ accomplishments in community building, education and cultural preservation.

Exhibitions, panel discussions, cultural performances, films on Tibet and lectures are some of the attractions of the event that will be held at the India International Centre, one of the organizers.

The three day festival, will be a showcase of all aspects of Tibetan life under one roof for the Indian public to view.
